FTP
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and Script Set-up paths

Q: Will I have 24 hours, 7 days access to update my Website?

A: Yes. Spirit Hosting provides you with unlimited access to update and make changes to your Website via FTP or FrontPage 24 hours a day.

Q: How do I display my webpage on the World Wide Web?

A: Your need to upload your HTML and associated files onto your account at Spirit Hosting. The first page of your website must be called one of the following: index.htm, default.htm, index.html or default.asp (if it is an Active Server Page script file). Please ensure that your home page is located in your root directory, not in a subfolder - otherwise, unless a browser has that exact subfolder address in the window, your site cannot be displayed.

Q: How do I upload content to my Website?

A: You will be given access to your Website via File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or published with Microsoft FrontPage. However, if you choose to have FrontPage Extensions and FTP access on your Website, you must do so with caution. By using an FTP client to upload where Front Page extensions are stored, you can easily overwrite the FrontPage extensions and destroy the integrity of the Website.

Q: Can I have CGI and ASP and Perl on my Website?

A: Spirit Hosting can setup your FrontPage site to have custom CGI abilities. But since this is running in an NT environment, you need to obtain CGI-Script written for specifically NT. Also supported is ASP and Perl Script.

Q: What are the paths to set up scripts for my Website?

A: Supported are both CGI and Perl Scripts:

Unix:

remember perl and cgi is run under /cgi-bin folder and you will run the scripts residing in the secure directory referenced to the regular CGI folder.#!/usr/bin/perlfull path: /home/webuser/domainname.com/cgi-binfull path: /home/webuser/domainname-com/public_htmlUnix URL is http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/ or ./cgi-binSendmail Path: /usr/sbin/sendmail
