VPN to Remote Dedicated PC Desktop Services
What is VPN?
A virtual private network (VPN) is the extension of a private network that encompasses links across shared or public networks like the Internet. A VPN enables you to send data between two computers across a shared or public internetwork in a manner that emulates the properties of a point-to-point private link. The act of configuring and creating a virtual private network is known as virtual private networking.
What are the benefits of using VPN connections?
To guarantee complete encryption protection and security of information, VPN is used by individuals connecting to their remote PCs as well as large corporate networks connecting to and communicating with each other on their network. Most people would like to keep their communications secure and out of reach of anyone from simple ISP reception logs, to hackers looking for credit card or identity information, to government eyes prying into your personal or work life. Investors are especially on guard, as are companies who transmit private information such as online credit card transactions and other sensitive customer information.
For routed connections, an organization can use VPN connections to leverage the worldwide connectivity of the Internet and trade long-distance dial-up or leased lines for simple connections to an Internet service provider (ISP) without sacrificing the privacy of a dial-up or an expensive dedicated site-to-site link.
What are the benefits of using a remote PC?
The remote PC is designed for anyone who wants to keep their PC files out of the reach of others. Perhaps you are concerned about asset protection or investment information and that someone may gain access to your home PC by hacking or by court order. With our security and privacy in place, a remote PC hosted in this private data center in Malaysia, the hacker or court order is not going to effect your remote PC. Privacy and security is our utmost goal for this remote PC.
Exactly how would normally I log into and operate my remote PC?
After logging into your regular home or work based PC desktop and connecting to the Internet via your Internet connection (high speed connection is best, dial-up will work too), you would enter your VPN connection through an icon on your desktop screen (if an icon is desired) and, just like you'd dial-up your ISP, you would then connect to the network through your VPN. Then a second icon on your desktop can log into your remote PC using this secure VPN connection. Everything is encrypted, including your username and password. You don't even need to keep your password on your login connection so you're the only one who would know what the password is, so in case anyone else would somehow gain access to your home or office PC, they still could not gain access to your VPN or remote PC.
Once you log into your remote PC, a desktop identical to the desktop on your home or office PC comes up. You are free to use both PC desktops at the same time. You simply minimize your remote PC desktop and use your home or office desktop menu or maximize the remote desktop for a full view of that menu..
On your remote PC you have Outlook and Outlook Express to send and access your e-mail, you can open up an Internet Explorer browser to browse the Internet, work on and save your Word documents, PowerPoint, Excel, FrontPage, Access or any other Microsoft Office Suite documents on your remote PC. You can install most security software and perform standard computer maintenance tasks, and even back up your files on the additional drive provided for the backup storage of your important files. Once you are finished, you may disconnect from your remote PC just like you log off your home or office PC.
Your access is available 24 hour per day, 7 days per week as long as your home or work based PC is on and your Internet connection is running. There is no time limit for your VPN/remote PC connection.
For VPN use we recommend you use a high speed Internet Access Connection such as cable or a satellite ISP connection. Your dial-up 56k modem ISP access can be used, but using a dial-up will produce slower access through VPN to your remote PC.
